چکیده
Results • An accurate, time efficient, and inexpensiveprognostic indicator is needed to reduce cost andassist with clinical decision making for cancermanagement.• The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR),which is derived from common serum testing, hasbeen explored in a variety of cancers.• We sought to determine its prognostic value ingastrointestinal cancers by performing a meta-analysis of pertinent published literature.• We analyzed 144 studies comprising 45,905patients; 2/3 were published after 2014.• The mean, median, and mode cutoffs for NLRreporting OS from multivariate models were 3.4,3.0, and 5.0, respectively.• Overall, NLR greater than the cutoff wasassociated with a HR for OS of 1.63.• This association was observed in all subgroupsbased on tumor site, stage, and geographicregion.

ABSTRACT: Autonomic dysreflexia is a syndrome describing sympathetic overactivity occuring in patients with spinal cord lesions. This study is based on the determination of epidemiology , predisposing factors and relation of this syndrome to severity and level of the spinal cord lesion. Brown syndrome is a special form of strabismus characterized by limited elevation of the eye in adduction resulting from an abnormality of the superonasal aspect of the orbit. The etiology may be congenital, inflammatory, or traumatic, and treatment approaches can vary. We report a case of Brown syndrome causing diplopia in a child after trauma to the lateral side of the face but with an unclea...
متن کاملNon-traumatic Causes of Brown-Sequard Syndrome: A Case Series and Clinical Update with Systematic Review.
Background: Brown-Sequard syndrome (BSS) is a rare neurological condition resulting from a hemisection injury to or unilateral compression on the spinal cord. The most common causes of BSS that are amenable to be treated surgically can be divided into traumatic and non-traumatic injuries. Traumatic injuries are often reported as the main cause of BSS. However, non-traumatic injuries of the spin...

A 26 year old motorcyclist was received by the trauma team in our accident and emergency department after a head on collision with a motor vehicle. He had been correctly immobilised and his primary survey was essentially normal. He was alert and orientated with a Glasgow Coma score of 15 and had no symptoms or signs of spinal injury. His cervical spine radiography was also normal. Neurological ...
